The Brandeis men’s soccer team went on the road this week and pulled out two key wins. On Tuesday, they took a trip to Massachusetts Institute of Technology and defeated the Engineers. Then, on Saturday, they travelled to Pittsburg and earned a key conference win. Here is how the team performed this week.
Coming into the month of October, the women’s soccer team’s winning streak came to an end after a game against Lesley University. Despite the loss, the Judges are still pushing on with the season. With 10 games behind them and seven left to go, this team is in an excellent position for the rest of the season. The Judges are ranked 10th in Division III by United Soccer Coaches and 13th by D3soccer.com.
Starting their seasons off on Sept. 22 and 24, respectively, the women’s and men’s tennis teams are both off to a very strong start through three meets.

Entering the month of October, the Judges played against Worcester Polytechnic Institute that inflicted their fifth straight loss, a streak they have yet to overcome. They are now 7–10 for the season, while the Engineers improved to 14–3. Looking ahead, the Judges face Regis College on Tuesday Oct. 9, hoping to overcome this mid-season slump.
We are now weeks into the NFL season and it has been chock full of surprises. Here is a breakdown of how each division is shaping up so far.
Keeping their season on the right track, the women's soccer team continues their winning streak. The team has started off the season strong, with six consecutive wins against Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Lasell College, Johnson and Wales University, Eastern Connecticut State University, Babson College and most recently Tufts University. Two recent games both ended with a score of 1-0. Looking ahead, the homecoming game against Case Western Reserve University is quickly approaching on Sept. 29.
The Brandeis men’s soccer team has split its games from this past week. The team started off with an 8-0 rout of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, the team’s highest scoring game in seven years. Following that, they took on crosstown rival Tufts University but were unable to come away with the win, and t. Their 2-1 defeat dropped them to 3-4 on the year. Although this is not the start they were hoping for, there is still plenty of time to turn things around and bring the Judges back to the top of Division III soccer.
The Judges continue on a relatively strong note this season. In the past week, they won two games and lost one, improving to 7-5 for the season. Looking ahead to next week, the Judges hope to defeat Roger Williams University on Tuesday.
The Brandeis men’s soccer team has had a relatively slow start to their season. Given that the team made it to the Division III final four just last year and came into the season ranked fourth in the nation, expectations were very high, and the team hoped to see their success repeated. However, in the past few games, the team has not displayed the skills that brought them so far just last year.
The Brandeis men’s and women’s cross country teams both competed on Saturday in the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational. This was the team's second meet of the young season, and the meet offered a much more complete picture of how the team stacks up against its competition. The Wellesley invitational had the Judges competing against only Wellesley College, Wentworth Institute of Technology and Regis College. The UMass Dartmouth Invitational however, saw the Judges in a 41 team field that was a lot more diverse in skill and strategy. Each team had varying degrees of success as well as their own individual stand-out performances. Here is how both teams fared against their competition.
The Brandeis women’s soccer team is 5-0 in their strong season so far. This hardworking group has really had a great start to their season, resulting in many victories. In the past two weeks, the team has won three more games.
On Sept. 8, the U.S. Open women’s singles final took place — the last of the four grand slams of tennis that occur every year. Within the tournament, hundreds compete against top-ranked competition on the world’s biggest stage, New York City. This year, however, the women’s finals was overshadowed by drama that took place away from the action on the court. The match featured longtime American icon Serena Williams versus an ultra-talented 20-year-old, Naomi Osaka. The contest was set to be a great battle: the present against the future, a Japanese-Haitian newcomer playing her idol, a woman of color who took over the sport. Yet everything changed during the second set.
