Tiered grading for pass/fail considered

The debate over changing the pass/fail system has expanded over the last month, with the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee now considering various changes to its grading scheme in an effort to encourage students to take pass/fail courses more seriously, according to UCC officials.


Student-written fight song approved

The Student Union Senate approved Brandeis' first official fight song at its Oct. 29 meeting despite some senators' concerns.The fight song, written by Amelia Liebhold '08, is the first in the University's history, according to Liebhold.


Friends' creator, alum to teach spring seminar

Marta Kauffman '78, a producer and co-creator of the television series Friends, and other alumni in the arts industry returned to their alma mater Saturday to speak at the "State of the Arts at Brandeis" program.During her visit, Kauffman agreed verbally to teach a writing seminar next semester.


Does Brandeis suffer from absenteeism?

Maya Linderman '09 almost never misses a class. Considering a psychology major, the sophomore says Brandeis' $40,000-plus tuition a year is too much to justify absenteeism."You're spending [a lot] of money to go to college," Linderman says.
