Pauri Pandian, the assistant coach for the men and women’s tennis teams, has been named the Division III Northeast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Brandeis athletics announced on its website on May 8. This season marked the fourth of Pandian’s career in which he has worked under head coach Ben Lamanna.
■ Third baseman Rob Trenk ’15 had two RBIs on a single and a double in the Judges’ victory over Trinity College.
■ Michael Arguello ’17 and Jeff Cherkin ’17 improved to 13-9 in doubles play with a victory on Saturday.
■ Pitcher Sean O’Neill threw seven shutout innings in the Judges’ 3-1 victory against New York University on Sunday afternoon.
Guard Hannah Cain ’15 of the women’s basketball team was selected to participate in the 2015 New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Game last Tuesday night. The captain and only senior on the team was also named to the All-University Athletic Association second team this past regular season. The award was the second of her collegiate career, after she previously earned the achievement in her sophomore season. Cain was the all-around leader for the Judges this season.
This week, Brandeis athletics saw numerous cancellations due to inclement weather. The softball team’s game on the road at Clark University on Saturday was postponed until a date yet to be determined.
The women’s softball team defeated Grace College 3-2 in Clermont, Fla., on Saturday, continuing a strong start to the season for the team.
■ The competition from the club’s first year included visits to Harvard University and Vassar College.
