Lear' fit for a 'King'

Spingold was lit up with powerful acting and gorgeous costumes Friday night, sweeping the audience into a tale of madness, betrayal and the eventual discovery of love in a new adaptation of William Shakespeare's King Lear, presented by the theater department.King Lear is the story of Lear (Michael Hammond) who divides his kingdom among his three daughters according to how much they say they love him.

Dave Klasko '07 landed parts in two plays to be produced this season by troupes in the Undergraduate Theater Collective (UTC). An actor since sixth grade, Klasko has endured his share of grueling auditions.


Scholar relates Roman slavery to American

Prof. Bernadette Brooten (NEJS) addressed a packed crowd in Goldfarb Library on Wednesday to discuss the numerous conflicts female slaves had to endure in fourth-century Rome and in 19th century America.Titled "Slavery's Long Shadow Over the Lives of Girls and Women," Brooten spoke about how slaves were ordered by their masters to behave contrary to their Christian values, which most of them tried to uphold.
