Two clubs with same purpose reach an agreement

Two student clubs have found themselves in a precarious corner of club life at Brandeis: each club's mission overlaps with the other's, something prohibited under Student Union bylaws.According to Article VIII Section 2 of the bylaws, no two chartered clubs can have the same purpose.For this reason, Peers Educating Responsible Choices, a recognized group could not be charteredIts constitution overlapped too closely with that of the Health Education Leadership Program, a general health education club.


Career center director to step down next month

The Director of the Hiatt Career Center will resign from his position next month, Senior Vice President for Students and Enrollment Jean Eddy announced last Tuesday.Marty Ford, who led the center for almost two years, will step down in the first week of November for family reasons, Eddy wrote in a campuswide e-mail.Before Ford's arrival, Hiatt experienced staff shortages that led to numerous student and alumni complaints over the center's accessibility and service.


Health center looks at HIV test

After campaigning last semester to bring free HIV testing to campus, a student activist and a Health Center official met Friday to discuss a campus testing program that could feasibly be implemented within weeks.Iyah Romm '07, a former coordinator of the Student Global Aids Campaign here, and Kathleen Maloney, health center administrator, picked up last semester's conversation together about on campus testing Friday.Maloney agreed last spring to draft a proposal for campus HIV-testing after over 300 students registered for free and confidential tests.
