SEA aims for environmentally friendly dorms

The campus group Students for Environmental Action is petitioning the Brandeis community this week to support the group's efforts to ensure the new dormitory replacing the Ridgewood Cottages will be environmentally friendly, group leaders said.SEA is working to help Brandeis implement "green building" techniques for the proposed dorms, SEA Coordinator Elizabeth Ginsburg '08 said.


Officials concerned by funding oversight

Student Union officials have expressed concern over the administration's role in overseeing a portion of the nearly $1 million fund that finances student clubs.Interviews with group leaders and administrators indicate that the money allocated for Student Events, the campus programming group that receives nearly one-quarter of the total fund, is sitting in a University account not overseen by the one administrator authorized by the Union to do so, but rather by the department of Student Activities.


Students surpass Reinharz's challenge

Students, faculty and administrators met a challenge from University President Jehuda Reinharz by donating more than $4,000 to relief efforts for victims of an earthquake that struck India and Pakistan last October, Class of 2009 Senator Shreeya Sinha said.
