VOLLEYBALL: Squad starts season on road

After a disappointing, injury-plagued 2008 season, the Brandeis volleyball team will start the 2009 season with a tough test right off the bat tonight at Babson College. Babson is coming off one of its best seasons in years.


WOMEN'S SOCCER: Squad up for fall

Last season the Brandeis women's soccer team saw a strong performance from its rookie class. All 16 rookies played in at least one game, and first-years made up three of the team's top five point-scorers.


VOLLEYBALL: Volleyball rookies add depth

Last season, the women's volleyball team did not have any first-years join the team. This season they have the exact opposite scenario.Five rookies have been recruited to join the squad for the fall season, hoping to help the team bounce back after a disappointing 19-13 finish a year ago.


SOFTBALL: Squad drops two to ranked regional foe

In the first game of the softball team's doubleheader against regionally ranked No. 4 Rhode Island College last Thursday, pitcher Caroline Miller '12 gave up two home runs in the first inning to put the Judges in an early 3-0 hole in a game they would go on to lose 9-3.


SOFTBALL: Squad wins six of eight games

In the top of the seventh and final inning in the softball team's second game of a doubleheader against Wesleyan University last Saturday, starting pitcher Emily Vaillette '11 found herself in a familiar situation with the bases loaded against her and her team clinging to a small lead.


ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Emily Vaillette '10

It was the sixth inning of the Brandeis softball team's second game against Framingham State College last Thursday, and starting pitcher Emily Vaillette '10 had just aggravated her groin muscle after first injuring it earlier the game.
