OMBUDSMAN: Endorsement Question

Last week, the editors of the Justice did something that, to my knowledge, no Justice editor has ever done before: They entered the fray and endorsed a candidate from each of the two major political parties, just in time for the Massachusetts primary Feb.

OMBUDSMAN:Waltham events need to be reported to help build ties

Late last month, I had an eye-opening experience. On March 28, the Office of the Dean of Arts and Sciences hosted an on-campus symposium titled "Justice Begins at Home: Building Brandeis-Waltham Community Partnerships." The goal of the symposium was to alert faculty and students to the fact that the community of Waltham can be a wonderful teaching arena-and that there are, just beyond Brandeis' metaphorical gates, countless opportunities for students to become engaged with the cultural, legal, and social issues that animate life in America today.I don't actually know whether the symposium was covered by the Justice.

OMBUDSMAN: When college papers go global

I would like to take an opportunity this week to re-emphasize a point that I have made in this column before-and that anyone who knows anything at all about the direction the news industry has been taking will undoubtedly echo: The Internet has altered, changed, re-formed and modified, expanded, increased, enlarged and multiplied the audiences served by newspapers throughout the world.

OMBUDSMAN: Rothman editorial was appropriate

It is, apparently, time for me to offer up another evaluation of the Justice. It had been my intention to comment on the paper's coverage of former President Jimmy Carter's recent visit to Brandeis-which I thought was excellent and far more even-handed, actually, than some of the attention that was given to the event by The Boston Globe.
