Bill of Rights delayed due to wording issues

The Student Bill of Rights, a document seeking to clarify students' rights in relation to the University that has been compiled by Dean of Student Life Rick Sawyer and members of the Student Union, likely will not be finalized by the end of the year after University attorneys raised additional concerns with the document, according to Sawyer.


Student Activities Fee to be uncapped next year

The Student Activities Fee, a small percentage of each student's tuition used to fund University clubs and organizations, will be uncapped for the 2009 to 2010 academic year after the Board of Trustees approved a budget containing that stipulation last Wednesday, according to Senior Vice President for Students and Enrollment Jean Eddy.


$10.8 million grant to provide academic scholarships

Brandeis has received a $10.8 million grant that will establish an institute and provide about 200 scholarships for Russian-speaking Jewish undergraduates, graduate students, Ph.D candidates and participants in the school's high school summer programs, according to a University press release March 25, 2009.

Pachanga tickets will be restricted to presales only

Tickets for this semester's Pachanga dance will only be available through presales and will not be sold at the door in order to avoid security problems and to ensure all students who purchase tickets before the event are guaranteed entrance, according to the event's organizer.Leon Markovitz '10, president of the International Club that coordinates the event, said that 850 tickets will be sold in the presales.The presales began last Sunday with tickets in the form of blue wristbands priced at $5.


Campus Life Committee discusses shifting quiet hours

Several issues, including quiet hours, the 'DeisBikes program and the prospect of requiring students studying abroad next spring to live in the Village in the fall were discussed at the most recent Campus Life Committee meeting held last week, according to Dean of Student Life Rick Sawyer.
