PLAYING WITH FIRE: The Brandeis community came out to both watch and play Glen Kaino’s “The Burning Boards,” a piece in which chess is played with candles.
MATCH OF THE MASTERS: Provost Lisa Lynch (center) played against Misha Vilenchuk ’16. Vilenchuk won after one of the longer matches that night, but Lynch commented in an interview with the Justice that she believes that he went easy on her.
WINDUP: Pitcher Sean O’Neill ’18 pitches in the Judges’ 5-4 defeat against regional competitor Tufts University on April 4.
HOLD ON: The play included many plotlines, spanning various time periods. Each plot included the death of a last black man on earth.
SING IT OUT: Although The Death of the Last Black Man in the Entire World is primarily a play, the one and a half hour production included some musical numbers.
NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE: Dorothy (Elena Insley ’15) wakes up in the dreamland of Oz and prepares to make her journey to meet the Wizard. The ‘Dark Side of Oz’ piece was designed by Jeremy Perlman ‘15 and choreograhed by Mikah Atkind ‘15.
