Medical Emergency

Apr. 27—A party in Shapiro Residence Hall requested medical assistance for a ring stuck on their finger, claiming the finger was swollen and doubled in size. 

The party was treated on the scene by BEMCo staff with a signed refusal for further care.

Apr. 30—A party in Shapiro Residence Hall reported having a concussion earlier in the week and was currently vomiting. BEMCo staff treated the party and University Police transported the party to Newton-Wellesley Hospital for further care.

May 8—A caller in the Sherman Dining Hall reported a party suffered a head injury but was conscious and alert. BEMCo treated the party on the scene with a signed refusal for further care.

May 9—University Police received a call from the Waltham Police Department, who said they received a 911 call that a party in the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center got injured playing basketball. 

The party was treated on the scene by Cataldo ambulance, and University Police compiled a report on the incident. 

May 9—The Emergency Medical Technician on duty at Sherman reported a party with minor foot injury. 

The party refused further care with a signed refusal for continued care.

Disturbance

May 3—Police received a complaint from a party in East Quad of a group of people playing ball in the parking lot behind the building, waking up Waltham residents.

 Police advised the group to stop playing and compiled a report on the incident.

May 5—A party in the Charles River Apartments reported hearing a loud argument and then the sound of something striking the wall in the apartment above them. 

University Police checked the apartment in question and found two people in an argument over finals. 

Police took no further action.

May 8—A party in the Charles River Apartments reported loud music coming from an apartment and the occupants unwilling to answer their door. 

University Police arrived, and the occupants came to the door and shut off music at the request of the police.

Other

Apr. 29—A Goldfarb Library staff member reported coming in contact with an individual who had defaced the Goldfarb lower level men’s bathroom. University Police were sent to the Goldfarb Library but could not locate the individual. 

Police compiled a report on the incident.

May 4— A party in Pearlman Hall reported an envelope of money missing from their office. 

Police compiled a report on the incident and notified a locksmith to change the locks on the office.

May 4— A caller near Chapels Field reported a party was trying to reach inside of a car that had a window slightly open. 

Police were sent to check the area and found the party gone upon their arrival.

May 8—Police received a complaint of a group of six or seven parties in the Foster Mods setting off fireworks. University Police checked the area, but the parties were gone on their arrival.

May 9—A caller in the Edison Lecks building reported the smell of smoke from the building in the second or third floor. 

Another caller reported a spill on the third floor of a compound called Thiols that was contained on site by staff. 

Police were notified that the compound is not hazardous to humans if it has been contained and compiled a report on the incident.
