Drive for success hinders true happiness

During finals, it gets tough asking people how they're doing. If they're legitimately doing well and they're happy and peppy, they're obnoxious. If they're tired, overworked and mentally fried, you feel for them, but they're kind of depressing.


Aging comedians prove they've still got it in 'Heist'

When you look at movies like 2009's Old Dogs and this October's The Big Year, the guiding thought behind their creation seems to be, "Let's get aging actors and comedians currently experiencing mid-life crises, put them in ridiculous situations, then watch hilarity ensue." Anyone who's seen even a trailer for one of these types of movies knows that hilarity doesn't ensue.


Dr Pepper ad shows industry's sexism

Really? That's the initial reaction given from anyone I've been around while watching Dr. Pepper Ten's new "It's Not For Women" ads. If you haven't seen the ads, they feature a group of soldier-esque action heroes engaged in a firefight in a jungle while driving a Jeep.


Public should critically assess fear of terrorism

The FBI recently foiled a terrorist plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States. The mastermind behind the plan was Iranian-American citizen Manssor Arbabsiar, who said that he was being instructed by Iranian government officials, although the Iranian government claims that there is no evidence to support that it had any involvement.


Centipede' overkills with tasteless gore

Every now and then I find myself asking how and why I ended up somewhere. Blind dates, sweat-storm frat parties, swimming pools of hotels that I'm not staying in, bad concerts of bands that haven't been famous in 30 years, any sporting event not played by professionals (e.g. Little League) and all sorts of other non-ideal situations crowd my life.


Hookahs don't need legislation

Any student who experiences any semblance of a typical college life has been around hookah. Whether it be at a party, small get-together, hookah bar, lost in the woods or a baby shower, college students can't seem to avoid it, and it's only getting more popular.
