All-American Genovese stands out on the field

Centerfielder Amanda Genovese '15 knew, even in her junior year of high school, that she wanted to lead off for the Judges in her college softball career. She sent an email to Coach Jessica Johnson that summer, encouraging her to attend her road games. Genovese hadn't seen the Judges coach at any of her high school games, though, and prepared to forsake her dream. However, Johnson was a hidden presence in the stands and recognized Genovese's potential.


Track teams put forth solid marks at Brown

While they found themselves up against competitors from a variety of different NCAA Divisions, the Judges performed with the utmost tenacity at the Brown Springtime Invitational held at Brown University this past Saturday. The outdoor track and field squads went the distance, featuring five runners in the top 50 of each of the one-mile events. Amelia Lundkvist '14 led the charge for the women, surging to a 12th-place finish in five minutes, 12.09 seconds.


Teams record strong marks in local meet

Alex Kramer '13 and Mik Kern '13 looked to make a statement in their final season with the Judges' outdoor track and field squad. In their first meet of the season on March 30, the pair secured first- and third-place finishes in the 1,500-meter event at the Tufts University Snowflake Classic. The duo picked up right where they left off that day, surging to yet another pair of top-10 finishes at the George Davis Invitational last Saturday at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.


Bruins spoil Capitals coach Adam Oates' homecoming with big St. Patricks' Day victory at T.D. Garden

Washington Capitals head coach Adam Oates experienced d?(c)j?* vu last Saturday against the Boston Bruins. Oates, an All-Star center for Boston from 1992-1997, looked to make a statement at TD Garden, but the Bruins spoiled the homecoming, surging to a 4-1 victory to improve to 19-4-3. * Bruins coach Claude Julien noted his team excelled because it returned to what they do best: initiate a determined, unrelenting offense. * "We have to start playing closer to our identity," he said.


Seniors gather wins in home competition

* The men's and women's swimming and diving squads could not have envisioned a better end to the 2012-13 campaign, racing out to a season-high 27 individual victories in a non-scoring meet against Regis College on Saturday. * Yet, the meet on Saturday also marked the end of an era.
