Last Tuesday, Student Events announced this year’s SpringFest performers, starting with headliner Jessie J. The concert, which is on Sunday, April 26, will also include Stolen Jars, St. Lucia and ILOVEMAKONNEN.

Jessie J is the clear standout of this year’s performers, known for her most recent hit “Bang Bang” that’s taken over the music industry. Although Jessie J had composed for other singers, she came onto the music scene herself with the singles “Do It Like a Dude” and “Price Tag” and “Domino” in 2011. Since then, Jessie J released her album Sweet Talker in 2014 and performed live extensively, including at the 2015 Grammys.

Indie band Stolen Jars, though lesser known, will bring a very different sound to Chapel’s Field with lead singers Molly Grund and Cody Fitzgerald. Although they aren’t as widely known, Brandeis can expect to hear their single “Driving” off their 2011 self-named album.

St. Lucia, an indie-electronic singer based in Brooklyn, will come to campus just one week after performing at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival in California. The singer, whose real name is Jean-Philip Grobler, was born in South Africa. His hits include “Elevate” (2013) and “All Eyes On You” (2013).

ILOVEMAKONNEN is by far best known for his hip-hop single “Tuesday” (2014) —featuring Drake—that’s become one of the ultimate party songs of the year. Although he has other popular songs off his album I LOVE MAKONNEN (2014), the other songs haven’t received the same level of hype or Spotify views.
