The men and women’s track and field team was unable to run at the Smith College Beynon Invitational this past Saturday after the meet was canceled due to inclement weather.

Host Smith College announced the cancellation in a press release, posted on its athletics website on Saturday morning.

The meet was scheduled to be the fourth of the Judges’ indoor season after the team last ran at the Tufts Invitational on Jan. 17. The squad began the indoor season on Dec. 6 and ran meets on consecutive weekends beginning on Jan. 11.

The Judges were looking to build off a strong performance from Kelsey Whitaker ’17, who won the 1,000-meter race at the Tufts Invitational in three minutes, 1.22 seconds. At the same meet, Mohamed Sidique ’15 turned in the best day for the men, finishing second in the triple jump with a distance of 13.16 meters.

The men placed 12th at Tufts while the women were not far behind in 13th.

No make-up date has been announced for the Beynon Invitational.

The squads will return to action this weekend when they travel to Boston University for the John Thomas Terrier Classic, a two-day event beginning on Friday and continuing through Saturday.
