The men and women’s track and field squads continued their early-season meets at the Dartmouth Relays on Saturday, hosted by Dartmouth College.

The Judges scored points in just one race—Kelsey Whitaker ’16 finished fourth in the women’s 800-meter run—but turned in solid times against strong competition from Division I schools.

The team knew that it was facing tough competitors. Adam Beckwith ’18 said “We knew that there would be many very good teams at this meet, teams in Division I or II, like Dartmouth and Harvard."

Whitaker finished the 800-meter run in two minutes, 23.97 seconds, just over two seconds behind the third-place finisher and less than five seconds out of the top spot.

“[McCaleb] definitely pushed me while helping me pace the beginning of the race,” she said. “In past meets, I've either been blocked in at the start … or gone out too fast to avoid being blocked in. She is such a strong runner and I was really excited that we were able to work together.”

In the 1-mile run the Judges placed all three competitors in the top-25 out of 44 runners and got a top-10 finish from Ashley Piccirillo-Horan ’17.

The four ran a combined time of 1:37.37, good for an 11th-place finish, and were less than a second out of a top-10 spot.

Beckwith said that the team was satisfied about its performace.

"Lots of relays had solid performances and our men's milers especially had great races.
